About  the  artist

Dana was diagnosed with ADHD as a child, which she credits for her creative mind. She has been exploring art in various forms all her life. She describes her process as both intuitive and focused. Her Pet Tributes combine lifelike, painterly illustrations along with whimsical garden flowers, and her abstract floral "tangles" are like emotional release in the form of color.

She began her artistic journey to heal from her turbulent past - an unstable childhood, the sudden loss of her mother when she was 14, and to honor her beloved soul dog, Zigi, who crossed the rainbow bridge in november of 2024. Her studio Zignature Creations, is named in Zigi's honor.

Dana's art is meant to stand out, She makes bold color combinations to brighten up any space. Her intent is that her work serves as a reminder of inner strength, the beauty in grief, and to encourage self expression rather than sameness and comparison.

Dana enjoys creating with a variety of mediums, but her favorites are gouache for her pet tributes, acrylic paints, alcohol markers, and occasionally colored pencils. She also enjoys coloring books, diamond painting, collecting, and journaling.

Dana lives happily in Pennsylvania with her husband, two young children, and two cats, Beatrice and Georgie. In her free time, she likes to visit new places with her family, read, bird watch, and play "cozy" video games.

About Zigi

Zigi Marie Ferguson was a stray puppy found in December 2012. She and Dana instantly bonded, growing up together, and learning to love again after several early misfortunes.

Zigi had  an exuberant, outgoing nature and a stubborn silliness about her that always made others laugh. She was known for lack of personal space, and her "ah-rooo" when she wanted attention or treats. Truthfully, she was impolite, and a beggar. She would often whine + drool next to whoever was eating, or even bring her toys to barter.

She loved going on excruciatingly long walks, sniffing every individual blade of grass, or feeling the wind as it blew her ears in a different direction. Everywhere she went, she confidently walked up to strangers to say hello, ears bouncing and all. She was always making connections, and still does today.

Zigi was loved for 12 cherished years. She crossed the rainbow bridge in November 2024 after a lengthy illness and severe joint disease. Dana chose the butterfly for her symbol because her mission to carry her spirit in her pet tributes, and prove to the world that a pet's love is larger than life.
